From an early age I was strongly affected by art, particularly paintings.
I didn’t really get going until I was nearly forty. I had dabbled a bit, visiting galleries, even working for an auction house at one time.Once I got started, I was totally committed but there was a lot to learn and my early efforts were mostly frustrating which is normal of course.
I have been mostly been taught by individuals, apart from a brief period of study at the Slade School in London. There is no substitute for trial and error! Many artists have been very generous in sharing their knowledge with me - I feel a bond with anyone who strikes out on the adventure of painting and feel honor bound to assist them when required.

I personally put expressive power before technical virtuosity. Having said that, one must always be aware of basic principles such as tone, color and composition.Landscape Painting

Ojén is a thriving artists´ colony where one can commune with nature and make contact with creative colleagues. The residents are always happy to show you their studios.

The aim of the course is for painters of all levels to revel in the joys of landscape painting around Ojén using the medium of their choice. Only the artist has the luxury of an extended engagement with the land and sea that surrounds us all. This can be a magical experience. I am particularly interested in painting structures which stand in harmony within the landscape. They provide focal points and a contrast between their straight verticals and horizontals and the curves of nature leads to very expressive images.

Its privileged situation enjoys the superb climate of the Costa del Sol.
